Grace, Faith, Sonship, and the Spirit-led life.

Grace - A central theme in the writings of the New Testament. Bible-believing Christians are not to conduct their lives based upon a set of legalistic rules, but are to walk in the Spirit, which is initiated by accepting the amazing grace of God. (Ep.2:8-9; Ga.5)

Faith - A primary key to answered prayer. Faith-focused Christians are to trust God with every aspect of their lives. The just (Christians who know who they are in Christ) shall live by faith. Without faith it is impossible to please God. (Rm.1:17; He.11:6)

Sonship - To be like Jesus, a fully matured son of God. Christ-centered Christians are to grow up to full maturity in Christ Jesus, our example. We are to demonstrate His life and ministry through ours. We are to be walking in the Spirit at all times, just as He did.

The Spirit-Led Life - Always at the right place at the right time. Spirit-sensitive Christians are to fully rely on the Holy Spirit to guide us, to teach us, to bring things to our remembrance, to manifest our spiritual gifts, and to impact every area of our lives.

 THE ABIDING LIFE FIVE-FOLD SPIRITUAL FOUNDATION!

Foundation #1: The Word of God - The Spiritual Foundation of Abiding Life Christian Fellowship is to be five-fold. The the number one foundation must be the Word of God. God has magnified His Word even above His Holy Name. He has given us His Word in what we call the Holy Bible. The Bible is the mind of God in print. The Bible is full of many great and precious promises from God and we learn from Scripture that all these promises are "Yes" and "Amen" to those of us who believe. We also learn that it is God's greatest joy for us to walk in Truth. What is truth? Jesus told us that His Word is Truth. There is no greater truth and there is no higher authority than the Word of God. It must always be our number one foundation. (Ps.138:2; I Cor.2:6-16; III Jn.4; Jn.17:17; II Cor.1:20; Rm.3:4; Lk. 1:38; Ps.119)

Foundation #2: Prayer - Prayer has always been a major foundation in the church. The original 120 Christians ushered in the birth of the church through an intense time in prayer. We see prayer as an important part of the new Church throughout the New Testament. Every revival throughout church history has begun with a time of intense prayer and intercession. Prayer has been a foundation for every great move of God through the centuries. Spending quality time in prayer produces within us a sensitivity to the Holy Spirit, allowing us to get better at following His leadership in our lives on a daily basis. (Ac.1:14; 4:31; I Tm.2:1-2)

Foundation #3: Biblical Church Government - There are a lot of misconceptions and false assumptions when it comes to how a local church is to function and operate. The New Testament speaks a lot about Spiritual Gifts and the number one category of spiritual gifts that is spoken about is the category of Ministry Gifts. All Christians are called into the ministry and all Christians have been given Ministry Gifts, by our Lord Jesus Christ. However, there are only three ministry functions within the local congregation that are referred to as "offices", and these are the only three ministries within the church that have a list of requirements listed for us. Yet none of these three offices are listed among the spiritual gifts or ministry gifts. It seems to me that the offices of Bishop(Overseer/Pastor), Elder(spiritual ministry leaders), and Deacon(helps ministry leaders) are the only three positions within the local church that we need to focus on when determining proper church government. Beyond that, I would also suggest that all the other ministries within the local church can be categorized within four categories: Administrative Ministries, Education Ministries, Outreach Ministries, and Worship Ministries. (I Tm.3; II Tm.4; Titus 1)

Foundation #4: Unity - Unity is a major theme in Paul's writings, especially when he discusses spiritual gifts and church government. Unity is essential within any church if we expect God to use us in any great way. When we seek to function in faith, hope, and love, it is amazing how much unity is produced within the assembly. That unity cultivates a great atmosphere for the Holy Spirit to manifest Himself in the Spiritual Gifts. (Rm.12; I Cor.12; Ep.4)

Foundation #5: The Fruit of the Spirit - As we grow up spiritually, we should find ourselves producing spiritual fruit. We should specifically focus on planting "love-seeds" into the lives of those we come into contact with on a daily basis. People are attracted to churches which demonstrate the love of God, the joy of the Spirit, and the other fruit listed in the book of Galations. There are plenty of churches which demonstrate these qualities, then they have to resort to seeker-sensitive gimmicks to promote growth. We need to just allow the light, life, and love of God to emminate from us daily, and especially in our worship services. (Ga.5)
